| Christopher L. Bastardi was elected President of the Young Republicans in October 2004. Upon being sworn in on January 6, 2005, Chris, a big tent Republican, began reaching out to new members and organizations – from Progress for America to the Log Cabin Republicans. In March, Chris successfully presented a bid for Nassau County to host the 2005 New York State Young Republican Convention, which will be held in Plainview. He has also been named head of the New York Chapter of Young Republicans for Social Security Reform. Prior to serving as president, Chris served in the capacities of Executive Vice President and First Vice President of Campaigns. He is also a past president of the West End Young Republicans. Chris served as Aide to New York State Senator Kemp Hannon, where he handled constituent matters involving the Departments of Motor Vehicles, Insurance, and Education; and matters pertaining to local governments. He later served as Aide to Town of Hempstead Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin, where he handled most constituent matters, organized "town hall" forums, and assisted in lobbying efforts of the New York State Assembly, Senate and Governor to reform New York State's Real Property Tax Law. Chris is currently Campaign Chairman of the New York State Young Republicans. He was the Nassau County Coordinator of the People for Pataki grassroots campaign in 2002 and Volunteer Coordinator for the Garner for Congress campaign in 2004. A resident of Valley Stream, Chris is a member of the Nassau County Republican Committee, representing District 4 of the 14th Assembly District. He has earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Fordham University in both Communications and Media Studies and Political Science. He earned his Masters Degree in Political Campaign Management from New York University. |
